Abell Auction Company will conduct a fine art, antiques, 20th century design and jewelry auction on Sunday, May 19th, 2019. Live bidding begins at 10 am PST online and at the gallery.

The sale features property from prominent Southern California estates, and will he highlighted by an Abraham Lincoln campaign flag. This iconic piece of American history was used by Abraham Lincoln and his running mate, Hannibal Hamlin, in their victorious 1860 election, and includes one of the few portraits of Lincoln before he became president.

From a prominent Ranch Santa Fe Estate, Abell will be offering a Regency style gilt-bronze mounted kingwood bureau plat, and an Erard Louis XV style gilt- bronze mounted marquetry grand piano, both signed F. Linke.  These items were originally purchased in November 1969 at the catalogued auction conducted by Abell at the Hancock Park mansion of Mrs. Jean Hardison Owings.

Fine art in the sale features pieces signed Ludolf Bakhuizen, Antoine Blanchard, Arik Brauer, Vu Cao Dam (3), Marcel Dyf, Kerne Erickson (7), Moisey Feigin, Charles Arthur Fries, Michael Klein, Antoni Kozakiewicz, Ed Gilliam, Cleve Gray, David Howard Hitchcock, Jerome Kirk, Sir Godfrey Kneller, Alphonse Osbert, Jean Mannheim, Robert Peters, William Ritschell, Diego Rivera, Jules Schulman, Walter Stuempfig, Ralph Waterhouse (2,) Henry John Yeend-King, and Si Chen Yuan.

American and European furniture includes a set of eight 18th century Chippendale mahogany chairs; George III three-part dining table; Georgian butler’s tray with stand; Georgian oak dresser base; Hepplewhite mahogany sideboard; Tuscan walnut commode; Louis XIV style oak bibliotheque; Louis XV ormolu-mounted kingwood marquetry commode stamped ‘J. Dautriche’; Dutch marquetry side chairs; Portuguese Baroque gilt & polychrome cabinet; Steinway & Sons model M ebony case grand piano; and much more.

Jewelry in the upcoming sale features two brilliant cut diamond rings (6.07 carats and 6.47 carats); diamond & white gold eternity band; Jacques LaCloche: gold, diamond, and ruby figural brooch; Mauboussin: gold, diamond, ruby, and emerald clock; Audemars Piaget gold watch; Cartier 18 karat ‘Tank Francaise’ ladies’ watch; 14 karat cigarette case with dog miniature; Boucheron Paris gold cigarette case; Suzhou Agate & gold mounted pendant; and much more.
